Upgrades

Living Room Upgrade

Our number one rule when doing upgrades is to not charge anything on a credit card unless the store is offering 0% interest for 6 or 12 months. We put savings a side and paid for the tile in full and stored it in our garage until we could save up for the tile install.

I unfortunately did not take a before photo of the carpet and searched through my photos of my family.

Living Room Upgrade

We removed the carpet to save money on labor. We purchased the tile first for $656 at Floor & Decor and then had it installed 6 months later for $900. We had saved up the cash to pay the tile installers, this project was done in 2019.

Front Room & 2 Hallways Upgrades

Our family removed all the carpet to save on cost and we hired a family friend to install the tile. We picked out tile from Floor & Decor (cost $578) and stored it in our garage for 6 months until we saved up the money to have the tile floor installed. We paid $800 to have 700 square feet of tile installed, project was done in 2020.

Upgraded our Game room into a Bedroom

We upgraded our upstairs game room into a 5th bedroom,  this project is something we did not want to take on by ourselves. So I found a contractor to build up the half wall into a full wall and added a door to close the room into a bedroom. In total we paid $3,000. The contractor was not prepared for the project, he told me it would take 3 days which turned into 4 weeks. A lot of the time we were waiting on was the supplies were taking a while to come in and things to be done in stages. Now that the wall is finished up, it's a 5th bedroom and has more privacy than before.
